DESCRIPTION

The view shows the magnificent building of the Madras High Court standing close to the Madras railways station. The court was one of the three High Courts established in India's three presidencies, Calcutta, Bombay and Madras.

The Madras High Court in Indo-Saracenic style was built between 1888 and 1893, following the designs prepared by J.W. Brassington and later Henry Irwin. The Chennai High Court is still housed in these buildings.
